There aren't many organizations that have been fighting for environmental justice for as long as NC WARN has. After 30 years of advocacy and action, they realized it was time for a brand refresh in order to align with a new generation of activists.
Through a number of workshops, I collaborated with the NC WARN staff to build consensus around a new visual direction for their brand. We then redesigned a number of key touchpoints, including their website and quarterly fundraising newsletter.
Rooted in activism, the new NC WARN identity and website website take a slightly different approach than other nonprofit outreach efforts.
While encouraging donations, the brand's communications also devote significant energy toward calling on supporters to take action – usually by holding elected officials accountable.
A fresh color palette and typographic boldness convey a sense of urgency while maintaining that climate change is a problem we can prepare for and possibly help reverse if we put our minds to it.
